Q. How do I find a book?

  1. Enter the exact title of the book with quotation marks in the Quick Search box on the library's homepage.
  2. Narrow down your search by selecting Book from Material Type on the left side of the screen.
  3. Once you locate the book, click on its title.
  4. If the book is an e-book, you will see a link to access the full text. If it is a print copy, you will see a location, call number, and status.

If you have found a print book in our Quick Search, look at these portions of the item's record to locate it in the library:

  1. Location: Most print books are in the Book Stacks which means they are on a shelf on one of the floors of the library. In some cases, the location is Special Collections or Main Desk. Look for the Locate option in the item's record to see a map of where the book is kept. For help with these locations, Ask Us!
  2. Call Number: This is the book's address on the shelf. If the book's location is Book Stacks and the Call Number starts with any letters from A through L, or N through P, it will be located on the 3rd floor. If the Call Number begins with letter M or Q through Z, it will be located on the 1st floor.
  3. Status: In Library means the book should be on the shelf. A due date in the status columns indicates a book is already checked out by someone else. If a book is checked out, you can order it through Cline Library’s Document Delivery Service (DDS).
